2013 In Review

One year ago we packed up our furniture, our home, put it in a truck and packed it into a storage shed. One year ago we knelt and submitted to a specific calling we had felt on our lives by God for three years. A calling we had struggled to come to grips with and struggled to trust that God would be there when our fortnightly paycheques disappeared. With God’s help, we submitted. We prayed that God would use our lives as an instrument for His glory. “In their hearts human beings plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9

Six months of full-time music ministry. This turned into one year. Now it is prayerfully becoming two.

We are amazed at what God has accomplished. We are amazed at what God can do when we bring what little we have to offer to bring Him glory. We are amazed and beyond thankful for the godly men and women He has placed in our lives for encouragement, support, council, and a place to stay while on the road. We are thankful that He has used us as instruments in His hands.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16

As we look back on the year that has been we wanted to share a few of the highlights in a year made possible by God alone:

Youth In Mission Concert

108 Music Ministry Events consisting of Music-Sermons, Word & Song Concerts, Testimony House Concerts, Story & Message Chapels at Universities, Churches, Living Rooms, High Schools, Primary Schools, Halls, & Radio Stations in front of approximately 9,722 people. The largest being 1,700 people and the smallest 8 people.

41 of these concerts were with Matt & Josie Minikus and Bryant Rodriguez on the Songs of Ascent Winter Tour. So thankful for the superb planning of this tour by Matt & Josie Minikus. Thank you. A definite highlight of the year!

Songs of Ascent Winter Tour Team

Over 50,000 kilometres driven on three continents.

17 flights taken.

9 months of “Always Winter, but never Christmas”.

2 colds & countless bottles of Anti-bacterial lotion used.

Countless emails.

Countless divine appointments.

Countless prayers of thanks & for our faith to be increased. “Lord, may You sing through us and speak through us so that You might be seen more clearly through this concert. May we sing like it is the last time.”

Berlin Concert

Here are a few of the many testimonies shared with us this year:

A woman came to church for the first time in years after being invited to our music-sermon concert. She came up to us afterwards and told us that she was glad she had come.

We met a woman who had been to one of our concerts a few years ago at a point in her life where she had turned from God. She expressed how God used our concert to bring her back into a living relationship with Him. She has been involved in ministry ever since.

A 95 year old man came to church for the first time in years after being invited to our music-sermon concert.

A woman broke down telling us her testimony and she had brought her non-christian husband to church that day. He expressed that he loved it.

A man came up to us after a concert and expressed that it had been a God-timed message as he had been recently struggling with trusting in God for his future as he had just lost his job. He said our concert had encouraged him to trust in God.

Once again we are…

We are beyondblessed by the journey God has taken us on that almost seemed surreal. We are amazed by the support of our friends and family and so many people that we just met within the last year. We are thankful for those who opened up their churches, schools, universities, and homes for a concert, and radios for an interview. We are humbled by all the amazing hospitable people who welcomed us into their houses and made it feel like home, even if just for a night.

As we look ahead to 2014 our prayer continues to be that our lives, our music, our preaching, & stories would glorify & uplift the Everlasting God.
