Sold our Car

The car had been on the market for over 3 months when it finally sold last Sunday October 12th. We received a phone call on Saturday afternoon from a woman needing a car. After the call, we were praying and believing that this car would be sold that very weekend if it were Gods will. We also prayed for it to be a very easy and quick transaction.

Toyota Yaris

Well, not only did the car sell that very weekend, but also, the transaction was so smooth and easy, it was amazing! The woman who bought the car just handed over the cash over straight away. No waiting, no annoying financing! We also prayed that the car would sell just for the right amount. Just enough to get out of the debt owing on it. And you bet you, it did! The car sold for just the right amount to get out of the debt owing on the car.

Praise God! He definitely provides when we have faith, believe and ask according to his will.

Passports and Visas

Passport

Finally we have received my (Monique's) birth certificate and can renew my passport in my 'new' married name. The only problem is that we need to get important info to Ukraine for invitation letters (for the visa) by Monday... Now in true Monique style I have once again left all this to the last minute. Eric, the unfortunate husband who has to deal with my laxi-dazy attitude to everything, is politely 'pushing me' in the right direction. Now I do understand that I don't want to be in the same situation as the last time I got a visa to Ukraine... Where I only received my visa and passport 2 hours before departure (Thank you God!). So hopefully with a fast processing fee for the passport and the eventual arrival of the letters of invitation we will be able to apply for Ukrainian visa... Which will state a processing time of 10 business days but in reality this means 1 or more months... But hopefully this will all go smoothly...

Plane Tickets

Adventist Volunteers

Airfares to the Ukraine tend to be very expensive. The Kiev airport isn't a common destination for people traveling to Europe. Economy tickets are anywhere from $2000 - 5000 per person one way!

To get around this issue we thought about flying to either Frankfurt, Germany or Warsaw, Poland (major airports) to get the price cheaper and then train it across the border to Ukraine. The train trip was a long journey, but we were willing to do it to get the price down to around $1400, which is very reasonable. Some time later, after much prayer and searching for a new website we had found (Best Flights) we saw a ticket for $1290 including taxes! Praise God! This price was exactly what we needed and the flight went pretty much direct to Kiev!

We leave Sydney on the 31st December flying Virgin Atlantic to Hong Kong, China. Then from Hong Kong, leaving at midnight New Years (hope to see the fireworks from the plane) to Zurich, Switzerland on Swiss Air International. Then on New Years Day we fly from Zurich to Kiev, Ukraine.
